Boating boots

Getting dressed up for work yesterday I picked my shortest skirt, in order to show off my lovely brown legs - the first time in my adult life, I believe, that the backs of my legs have been brown. Unfortunately, the pleasing golden glow stops dead at the ankle, giving the impression that I have found a very subtle version of this year's must-have footless tights.

This is because whatever the weather, I will not boat in anything other than my trusty boating boots. Tried and tested for comfort, flexibility and non-slip qualities, these DMs that I got in a charity shop in Huddersfield are unbeatable. From the flooded towpaths of Atherstone to the mud of St Ives, they've seen me through it all. You can't beat a good pair of boots. Wherever you are, whatever's wrong with your life, put on a good pair of boots and you're standing on solid ground, and you've got a friend.

What a fabulous pair of boots, charity shops can produce some wonderful things. I too have a good pair of boots, most importantly they are none slip.
Have a wonderful week and weekend.

I too have a pair of DMs - Cherry Red the colour, I believe - looking like yours. I've never found them any good in the wet, though. They're slippery and not waterproof! Perhaps I should forget about colour/looks and smear them with dubbin. Haven't worn them much since I slipped over at a Christmas party 10 years ago and broke my ankle!

Funny isn't it, I've had others that were useless on the grip front but these are fine. Not waterproof, admittedly though

For 15 years while being the Miller at Avoncroft Windmill, Bromsgrove I wore DM's daily and never slipped or stumbled. I wish I had had them on Vesta in the 1960's when I wore hobnailed boots.

Can't beat a good pair of boots.Don't really like any one onboard with out substantial footwear. The two times I have fallen in I was wearing trainers.
