It's official

I am now the official owner of Chertsey.

I met with one of the executors today, and was handed the bill of sale, along with a beautiful photo of the boat and its late owner back in 1973.

Taking the boat on does feel like a serious responsibility, and an honour as well as a privilege, and I hope I will do justice to it.

Not only that, but have a lot of fun, and do a great deal of learning, along the way.

As I realised the other day, the way I feel about this boat, it's not a possession; it's a relationship.

Many congratulations.

We're free next Sunday afternoon, so shall we come round for a spin in Chertsey

I am sure that Sarah would be delighted, just remember to bring your stout walking boots and we will provide a rope each to pull it!!! :) What about a planning meeting :) for next years cruising schedule?

Congratulations. Perhaps, to paraphrase an advert for an absurdly expensive watch, you never actually own a big Woolwich, just look after it for the following generations!

Maybe, one day, I'll have the same feeling- owning an actual, proper tangible piece of history.
